Iridescent Stretch Glass

American Iridescent Stretch glass is a type of pressed glass (though some pieces were blown or blown molded) that was made in the early 1900's up to the 1930"s. Northwood, Fenton, Dugan, and others made some very similar compotes, lidded candy dishes, plates, bowls, candle holders, etc.  Very similar to carnival glass as far as the "dope"  or metal salts that were applied to give the iridescent effect. However, stretch glass is usually a plainer pattern and the "dope" was applied while the glass was hot and then re-shaped, which forms a crackled, stretchy surface that looks like onion skin.
